Italian car designer, inventor, mechanic, engineer, winemaker, industrialist and businessman
Ferruccio Lamborghini, born April 28, 1916 in Cento in Emilia-Romagna was an Italian engineer, business leader, vehicle and helicopter designer, known as the founder of the Lamborghini car brand. Ferruccio Lamborghini grew up in a small village outside Bologna

The early years
Lamborghini built the first of his "Carioca" tractors in 1947, themselves based on the six-cylinder petrol engines of Morris trucks. Based on the initial success of the Carioca, Lamborghini founded Lamborghini Trattori and began manufacturing tractors.

Some of the famous Lamborghini line-up during this period was the 350GTV, 400GT the Miura and prototype of Countach. Despite the success, in 1973 the world faced finacial crises as well as oil crise which led Ferruccio to sell his ownership to Rossetti and Leimer. The company went bankrupcy in 1978 and was placed in the recivership of Mimran brothers.

La fiorita-the lamborghini wineyard
After the decision to separate from Automobili Lamborghini and his other companies, Ferruccio began to search for an ideal space, far from the turmoil of the industrial world, to rediscover that bond with the land that had never abandoned him: he bought an estate on Lake Trasimeno (La Fiorita) and moved there in 1968 and founded his wineyeard.

He dedicated himself to the estate and transformed it into one of the most modern farms in Europe: he levelled the land, planted some of the best quality vines and built a wine cellar that was absolutely innovative for the time. Initially, Ferruccio moved to La Fiorita to relax and go hunting, but his entrepreneurial acumen continued to be strong: he entered the wine world with his first harvest in 1975, producing the 'Sangue di Miura' wine under the oenological supervision of Giorgio Grai, one of the best winemakers of the time.

the new legacy of excellence
Since 2015, the property has been sold to a Milan-based company formed by members of the Tschang family, which is continuing the project of renewal and excellence initiated by Ferruccio Lamborghini. The new vineyards cover a total area of 30 hectares, but the future plans of the current ownership include replanting the entire vineyard area.

The extreme search for quality and the desire to highlight the characteristics of the terroir have allowed the beginning of a dramatic improvement in both vineyard management and winemaking under the supervision of Riccardo Cotarella for over 20 years. The result of these efforts has produced modern wines of the highest level.
